A qualified, award-winning journalist and reporter with a background in broadcasting, John Balfe has worked in Irish media for over 15 years. During that time, he has covered news/current affairs, sports and music extensively as both a freelance and staff writer for various publications in Ireland, the United States and throughout Europe.

Presently, John helps to lead a team of an Irish-based sports website that has grown from a start-up to finish runner-up to ESPN two years running in digital media awards in the US (2020, 2021).

Additionally, John has contributed to Betfair’s ‘NFL Only Bettor’ podcast since 2019, helping the weekly, hour-long show to grow to become one of the most successful of its type in Ireland and the UK.

John has also worked alongside several major brands on advertising campaigns, including Diageo, Betsafe, Failte Ireland, 7Up and others.

Industry awards won by teams lead by or featuring John include Best Use of PR Award (BT Sports Awards 2018), Best Website in Ireland, Best Entertainment Website in Ireland and Best News and Entertainment Website in Ireland.
